This cycle was a fucking disaster from start to finish! The first thing was that I had arranged to go from Longford to Tullamore which was over 70 KM which I am more than capable of . However the day before I discovered that Tullamore is much closer than Longford so I decided to start from Tullamore . Logical enough . I also thought that I knew how to change a cycle ride from going from A to B to the other way , B to A. Sounds simple but not that easy . I was ages setting that up on the H/head and eventually I did . So along comes Tues 27th (I am now 70 Years old + 1 day ) . firstly the weather was crap in Tullamore and I was really chancing it . But I semed to be always going to Tullamore rather than to Longford . Eventually I got that right but I had was ted half hour messing with the H/head trying to work this problem out . I should have been there in the coffee shop about 10 minutes but not half hour at least getting more and more frustrated . So eventually I was going the right way and off I set . So as I said the weather was just a drizzle but 5 minutes after I started it became heavier and heavier . so about 7-8KM out I decided to turn back and go home . So on my way back the skies became clear and it cleared but still cold enough . Remember this was just February . So I decided to go on the original route . But remember then that I had to hit Longford by 4.30PM approx to get the train to Dublin . There was a later train at about 6PM but I did not feel like staying there till 6 if I had missed it . So I decided to go instead to Mullingar which was closer . So when going that way I decided to go to the Western side of the lake but I ended going on the Eastern side and I just got to the train in time with about 3 minutes to spare . So to say what I thought of the cycle itself - great but disasterous at times . So I will try that cycle again when I can use the H/head properly and when I am fairly sure of the weather . Nearly 63 KM withcycles to and from stations incl. . I stopped going on the planned route in Kilbeggan and had gone on the road towards Mullingar instead .
