Wakefield Wheel - ridden not drawn

The Wakefield Wheel. Full route ridden rather than mapped as other posts have.
Generally well sign posted, with only 4 or 5 junctions requiring more thought or reaching for the map. We managed without a wrong turn, but can see that it would be easy to miss a sign.
Quite a few junctions / gates which bring your average speed down. On a sunny evening it is also quite busy. We managed it in 2 hours 52 start to finish, with 2 hours 38 moving time, but that was quick.
If you buy a large map ( Pugneys £1 ) you will see there is plenty of opportunity for short cuts should the need arise.
Be warned - when we did the route Pugneys gates closed at 9:30pm. Might be better parking in the Swan and Cygnet Pub on the same roundabout. We ended up in there anyway.

    Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices

  • TCX Course

    Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
