A Ride on the NH Ice Cream Trail to Bre's Ice Creamery, East Hampstead, NH. Starting in Londonderry at a parking area next to the Londonderry Rail Trail, take the trail nearly into Derry then onto a short segment of Rt 28. Ride past Pinkerton Academy where poet Robert Frost once taught. Then through East Derry, past the Historical Marker noting that Derry is the home of the First Potatoes planted in America! Alan Shepard was born in the area, and there some who'd like to see a monument to him on the family land. The East Derry store might help with a drink or a snack. Turn towards Hampstead at a small park. Then ride on past the Hampstead meeting house to the ice cream at Bre's. Returning follows quieter roads with hopefully more shade, past some small lakes (Wash Pond and Beaver Lake), and over English Range Road which is nicely rolling to work the calories off. Finish back at the rail trail, very near the 603 Brewery within walking distance. If you plan it right the tasting room will be open.
