Luckily that didn't scare Kristy, with whom I had a lovely ride. Except my hearing was a little off. She was motoring along at a rate that pushed my HR to mid 120's - pretty vigorous 16+ mph. Her friend had asked her to do the century, but Kristy thought the metric was a better choice. She was a half-marathoner so had the basic fitness and had done hilly NH 30 milers around her home. What I failed to conclude from all of this was that her longest previous ride was 30 miles. Finally I began to get that around mile 60+ or perhaps later at the finish. Never said I was the sharpest knife in the drawer - or at least I don't say that anymore. In any event, this was one of the best rides of my life! We talked about lots of biking things and some about each other and where we had been and what we do. I was so happy with the ride that compulsive me did not go out and get another 37 when I got home to make a century. The ride just left me happy and complete. Might ride more tomorrow - but this was fine. Thanks Kristy - and thanks for being clear that you did not want to hear any numbers (that might indicate you need more than one bar for a 60 mile ride).
