The mountain bike trails at Yellow Creek are painstakingly maintained by a small group of dedicated riders. And we are grateful as heck for them. This route was created by Friends of Yellow Creek. Check out their annual races every March, April, May, and August on Bike Reg or by googling "Friends of YC". This route begins in the parking lot near the beach pavilion (equipped with a running water bathroom during the season!!) with a gentle gravel climb that leads into a very rooty section (like, it'll humble you). After this you'll find some gentle hills, a creek or two, and primarily rideable XC trails. On the second half of the route, you'll complete (or hike) a rather strikingly steep climb that leads you into more rock garden terrain, and one of my favorite rock gardens accompanied by a sign telling you to figure out the line (there truly isn't a winner so you can ride this differently each time!). After some challenging rocks you'll find yourself safely back on pavement, and heading back to the start in the park with just a little trail in-between.
