Yet another warm one today. I was thinking of going out to Keene, but the heat was just too much of a deterrent. I opted for Tour de Teh (SS,R). I would only have to endure OTR and Banducci. The remainder would be cruise control. That’s pretty much what it turned out to be. I ended up bringing an extra bottle of Cytomax, and it was needed to complete the ride without rationing. As I thought, I felt sluggish getting out to Route 202 on OTR. I had no intention of putting in anything better than an average ride. Like all hot days, it felt like I was being denied oxygen. Banducci was tough, but I knew what it was going to be like, so no surprises. After reaching the Summit, I took a few moments break and headed down. I was able to practice my tuck, twice. The trek to SS was mostly moderate tempo, but I spared no time to get out of the danger zone (ie, traffic). I was still feeling somewhat sluggish, the rear climb seemed like it took forever. The downhill was a treat, reaching 40 in my tuck. The usual push around SS and then back on Banducci (traffic mitigation). The last few farmland legs went fast. The last climb was a welcoming thought as I approached it. Being that it was the last climb of the day in the heat. I did good time, considering. I had to shut it down a few times, but no foot downs. After that, it was the quick recover and the much awaited downhill. Mariposa felt like the usual chore. Concentration was good. I had some things to think about, and besides, the heat had a subduing effect. Ailments consisted of some hand numbness, a hint of saddle soreness, slight right calf soreness in the last few miles, maybe a hint of lower back soreness. Balance and form didn’t feel great, but average. The right leg continues to feel a bit awkward. I’ll have to adjust the cleat. Gear is working well. I put the Gopro into video/photo mode. The camera functioned from start to finish with no stoppages.
