A very scenic, challenging ride from Donner Memorial State Park to Cisco, California and back. There are two store stops in the Soda Springs area, both have food, drinks and ice. There appear to be two or three other store stops on the route that we did not use, one or two at I-80 exit 171, the other at exit 165. The mid-ride store stop we did use was at the turn around point of the ride in Cisco, the Cisco Grove Campground. It had a good choice of food, drinks and ice and has bathrooms. The route is very scenic along most of the entire route. The climb up to Donner Pass is long, steady and steep. It has great views along the way, particularly at Donner Summit Bridge, and near the top. Low traffic on a Monday in early July. Though it appeared that there was a steady stream of vehicles just starting to come up the mountain when we looked back from the top. We never saw any of that line of vehicles though. I suspect they got on I-80 at Soda Springs. I would suggest riding it as early in the day as possible. *Note: There is a 2.2 mile section from the return route missing, from Soda Springs starting at mile 28.7 to just east of Norden. The GPS had shut off at the store stop. Add 2.2 miles to have the true total.
