Canoeing on the Rideau System (Chaffeys Lock to Jones Falls)

Incredibly warm for late fall, so we decided to canoe another section of the Rideau. First day of a two day paddle, with an overnight at the Bay Motel near Jones Falls (which was OK and only $99). Supper at The Junction next door.Car shuttle from Chaffeys back to Jones Falls and paddled south. Parking OK at Chaffeys this time. Not many others on the water; a few motor boats since the locks are still open but hardly any other paddlers. Very light headwind from S. Usual wildlife, including a bald eagle perched on a dead tree at Otter lake on the way and loons. Short day but H tired since she is recovering from Covid. Portaged around Davis Lock.

  • TCX Course

    Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
