With Chris McDonald and Kevin Gibb. The classic Wakefield-Low-Wakefield loop. It covers a large part of the very popular Ride of the Dammed.
Start/finish: The Wakefield Bakery which is at the north end of town where the train used to stop. There is a parking lot across from the bakery.
Level of difficulty: There are a couple of hills but the ride as a whole is very doable and well worth it.
Surface: Good gravel (I couldn't get up the first major hill with my 1-1/4" tires which were sinking in, so I had to push. need a gravel bike or at least wider tires), pretty good pavement. 60% gravel
Tires required: Recommend a minimum 32 mm.
Convenience store: There is depanneur in Lascelles at about the 50 kms mark. We stopped here for cold drinks/ice creams.
Note that a bridge on Lyons was under repair and we couldn't proceed to Fieldville, so we had to backtrack and go left on Lyons, then right on McDonald, joining it a bit later than planned. Fortunately, this detour only added a couple of km to the ride. Had coffee in the Wakefield bakery afterwards. Kevin had a swim in the river. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/33377983
