I used as many trails as possible to get to WRL and back. Didn't do too badly, considering the heat. Got back in the nick of time. Leaving earlier had its advantages regarding the traffic. I had a blast on Jefferson Blvd., heading to the Skyline Trail.
The trail was deserted. I went up Corinth Street and cut through south Dallas and Deep Ellum to get to the Santa Fe Trail. There were some cyclists and people at the lake. Everyone drenched in sweat. I did notice some who were trying not to sweat. That's hilarious.
The Ridgewood Trail is a straight shot to MB Station, but typically Dallas. Absolutely no shade, but a park bench! YAY!!
I waited until I got to Glencoe Park to rest. The shade and benches didn't match up there either, so I went to the alternate spot on the service road before I got on the KT Trail.
The KT was great. Meaning few peds. I got through before the Saturday pub crawl began. LOL. West End was also quiet. The Houston St. viaduct was breezy and HOT. I had to stop again at Founders Park and wring myself out.
The last five or six miles were easy. I chugged up Zang and Madison and went south on Bishop Ave. I was happy to discover the chasm had been filled in with SMOOTH, new concrete. WOW.
The trouble is, a block later the street goes right back to the 1950s version. Hate that.
Polk Street looked like it went straight UP, so I took the wuss route back along Elmwood Parkway and Rugged back to Kiest Park. I had a great time.
