Trek Farley 9.6. Mostly sunny, cooler - in the low to mid 50's, extremely windy, NW @ 22-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Good day for a ride in the woods out of the wind. First time riding at Raceway in quite a while and first time on the Fat Bike.
I saw several other riders and quite a few hikers. trails mostly dry, a few wet spots but they've made some trail changes, most notably on the Western uphill portion of Corkscrew.
They removed a sharp turn and added in a huge (but short) uphill section that is at least 6-7 feet high and honestly has at least a 70-80 degree slope (see pic). It is on an overall uphill trail so no way to get enough speed up to clear it (at least not me on a 30# fat bike).
I made it about 2/3 of the way up and the bike stopped and I crashed over on my right side. From 2/3 of the way up to the bottom was about a 7 foot hard fall into a bunch of logs and sticks.
As I was detangling myself from the bike, another rider going downhill stopped and told me he can no longer do this section going in the uphill direction. I feel lucky I didn't break my collar bone but I am plenty sore.
I cut the ride short after that as it's kind of painful to pull up on the handlebars. Edit: 10 days later, it is definitely a bruised or cracked rib - I know what it feels like from having 9 ribs broken before. So regular riding is ok, no heavy singletrack for a bit.
