First time out for a quick shakedown ride on my new Gen 4 Trek Domane SLR 7. Initial feelings were overwhelmingly positive. The initial set up felt comfortable and very familiar compared to the setup on my Giant TCR. First up was bedding in the disc brakes which now provide plenty of stopping power. The ride seemed much more comfortable and smooth. The frame felt lively. I may want to add another spacer under the stem for a slightly more upright position compared to what I am used to riding, but will wait for the results of a planned bike fit in Traverse City in the near future. The 42 cm bars were comfortably wide enough (my 46 cm bars on my other bikes might actually be too wide in comparison) and the Ultegra Di2 hoods were phenomenal!
The first part of the ride might not have been accurately recorded since the Garmin showed Indoor Training mode. Conditions were generally overcast with temps in the mid to low 60's and a very strong wind (15-20+ mph) out of the SE. The Di2 shifting is quick and precise but will take a bit more getting used to over mechanical levers--old habits die hard! Next up is wrapping the bars, setting up the screens for this bike on the Garmin 840, riding more, then getting a bike fit.
