New ride venue with Jeff Scofield and Nancy Seefelt. We rode the new Dragon MTB trail near Hardy Dam. The trail is still under construction and we rode as much as is completed to date. In fact, we had to ride/walk around the trail builders at one point.
It was a beautiful sunny day that started out rather cold but riding warmed us up quickly. The wind was brisk (20-30 mph) but the woods did a good job of providing a buffer. Color in the trees was still present.
The trail is well designed and built and contains both uphill climbs and downhill descents, a number of well built bridges, banked turns, and other features. The trail wound around the lake and traversed hillsides, including steep slopes which fell seeply away from the trail to the water and ravines below. Jeff had some bobbles and Nancy hit the deck and rolled down one of the hills, so one has to keep their attention focused. I had some near misses with crashing. No one was the worse for wear, however. The trail appears to be popular, even before it is fully finished, judging from the amount of users, especially as the day wore on. Very fun ride!
