The weather let up today. Noticeably cooler. Some cloud cover here and there. Winds favorable from the West. I decided to go to Alpine Forest + Tour de The (SS,R) + WS n Back, in that order. I felt a bit sluggish going out the door. The usual warmup time to Route 202. Banducci felt good. I was within myself, legs feeling good. The Alpine Forest felt better today, but likely due the fact that it was the early part of the ride. While climbing, I noticed a slight hunger in my stomach. When I made it to the summit, I took a few moments rest. Fed, hydrated, relaxed. Then headed down to SS. The wind wasn’t particularly strong, so the trek to SS went quick. After making my way around, I stopped at the local mart, picked up some Gatorade and ice water + a cliff bar (I was out of food at this point). I didn’t spend much time there. Just enough to buy provisions, fill bottles, hydrate, etc. Then the trip back east. I had a nice tailwind on the way back, so the trek through the farmlands was upwards of 18MPH most of the way. CV climb felt good. I was able to put in good tempo. I kept the power down over the top. Somewhere around this point, my stomach was acting up a bit. I have a feeling it was the sudden intake of the Gatorade drink. Likely the excessive sugar content. To mitigate, I ended up taking on more water and swapping out bottles for my Cytomax. I headed out to WS. Enjoying the tailwind while I could. Like earlier, the wind was moderate, so the return trip went quick. My legs felt good. No signs of cramping or knee pain. Concentration was good today. Few lapses, just hickups, once in a while. Ailments were right hand numbness, mild stomach soreness, and the usual exhaustion. Balance and form felt good. Gear is working well. For some reason, the Walkman didn’t charge overnight. So, I ended up taping it to my top tube and charged it via the already attached power bank (that was supposed to be used for the GoPro). Fortunately, there was enough power to charge the Walkman, and the remainder to the GoPro. Suffice it to say, I was able to use the Walkman the moment I reached the summit of Banducci. Other notes, nice people in the farmlands, only one cyclist in the distance as I was on WTR in the return.
