Interesting ride thru the NJ Pine Barrens. Super flat. Not a hill or a bump or pimple to be had. Unique scenery with a fair bit of paved junk miles where ya just put your head down and roll. The sandy gravel roads were a mix of hard pack sand to very loose sand. I was rolling 2” continental race kings and it was perfect. I could easily roll all the sandy sections while leaving others on smaller tires in my dust. And then on the tarmac I rolled good. I may have gotten passed in the beginning paved sections but eventually after a bunch of very sandy sections I caught and passed most if not everyone and then never saw them again. I HIGHLY recommend nothing smaller than 45mm tires. I saw many people struggling and walking their bikes or just going very slow due to fear of sliding and falling. There was one section of three large mud puddles that were easily rode thru on the right side and one small “stream” crossing that I easily rolled through. Mostly low to no traffic roads with a few miles of busier roads that had either a wide shoulder or a shoulder with a painted bike lane.
