Decided to embrace the full Awayday spirit by side-stepping train disruptions and starting a day early. Very pleasant afternoon touring villages and churches in Wolds. Excellent lunch stop in Elloughton, Julie's, which has rear garden area with bike space. Must visit again - much better than Morrisons. Took an excursion through grounds at Hotham Hall. Interesting and a handy traffic-free shortcut in future. Star billing goes to St Nicholas's in N Newbald with its self serve coffee/ tea point and toilets - card donation gladly made. Some good Norman features as well; need to see what Pevsner says. Arrived Prem Inn Beverley through rush hour but tame compared with Leeds or York. Good overnight and relaxed start to day ride from Driffield. Train from Bev in morning was running and on time. Hooray.
