a perfect ride -- literally one of the best in the alps. It pulls you along with one delight after another. The chateau at the top is lovely too -- run by a nice young couple. This ride MUST be ridden in the clockwise manner to get all the real magic of it. The clockwise approach offers all the best vistas and a wonderfully complex (nearly perfect) series of switchbacks. Also the clockwise approach gives you the best descent -- kind of swoop and wonderful (although not as scenic as the climb -- which is perfect since you're paying attention to the road on the descent.) There are no cars on this road to speak of and a local cyclist told me that almost no one ever rides it. That's a pity because I regard this as a must ride in the alps.
