Who'd have thought that mild-mannered Gene would route us repeatedly through keep-out areas? I cringed, relieved that at least I personally was not Riding While Black, as I followed the GPS track through a short "Official Use Only" stretch and then a miles-long prison-use-only zone. As luck would have it, I caught ride leader Gene (and Francine) at the Kimball Farms ice cream/lunch stop. A few miles later, I went off route a couple miles to Clinton for my lunch; for a small town there are a lot of restaurants there, including the Boston Globe-approved Thai Time which I enjoyed a lot. Continuing the trespass theme, it was interesting to see the "Private Road" that showed me Boon Lake up close later; I've ridden the public road through the woods on the other side of that lake more times than I can count, without ever knowing about the extensive resort community on the private road and its intersecting roads.
