This is a hill-training ride. Start from Lewis and Clark Park in Troutdale. The first 5 miles is on the historic highway to the Stark Street bridge, then crosses the bridge for a short climb to Kerslake Rd. Another short climb follows to Division Dr. Turn left onto Oxbow Dr for another climb to Altman Rd. There is a short, steep climb on Altman then a flat road to Lusted Rd. In the first 8 miles there is nearly 800 feet climbing. Go left on Lusted Rd and continue to Dodge Park (mile 12.7). Climb out of the hole to Thomas Rd. Stay straight onto Thomas Rd and continue to Ten Eyck Rd. Go right on Ten Eyck then after about 0.3 miles, go left on Shipley Rd. Shipley is another long, gradual climb (5-7%) with 250 feet gain in 1.2 miles. Turn right onto Marmot Rd for a nice downhill to the Ten Eyck intersection. There are two lengthy and steep climbs to Sandy. The second climb is 9-14% grade. Enjoy a gradual downhill on Highway 26 west to Bluff Rd. Take Bluff Rd to Cottrell Rd then left at Dodge Park Blvd. The remainder of the ride is mostly downhill on Oxbow Drive, Kerslake to the Stark Street bridge. The ride was made more difficult by a gusty crosswind. Typically, there is more tailwind or simply light wind. Not today. Ride time today was several minutes slower than usual.
