This is another route from RideWithGPS. However, there are a couple flaws getting through and out of Albany. The ride starts from the Jefferson city park and outdoor pool. Nice convenient starting point, right off Highway 164. The first 16.3 miles goes to Independence via the east and north parts of Ankeny Wildlife Refuge and is the reverse of previous rides originating in Independence. Cross the Willamette River and ride south 1 mile to the Buena Vista Rd junction. The next 14.6 miles heads generally south (typically a tailwind) parallel to the Luckiamute River to NW Springhill Drive. Then it's southeast to Scenic Drive a couple miles outside Albany. Continue south on Scenic Dr. to NW 24th Ave. This is where the route gets convoluted. Took awhile to find the correct directions, via phone map app. The route creator has you coming to a dead end. The best way to navigate this part is take Laura Vista Drive south (first exit at the roundabout) to Gibson Hill Rd. Turn left onto Gibson Hill Rd and continue NW North Albany Rd (another roundabout). Go south to NW Quarry Rd. Turn left onto NW Quarry Rd. The turn is at the bottom of a short descent, but there is a crosswalk signal. Ride NW Quarry Rd to NW Springhill Drive. Actually, another option is to just continue on Springhill Drive at the turn for Scenic Drive. Springhill Dr eventually hits Highway 20 and crosses the Willamette River into downtown Albany. This is another confusing area. The best option is to turn left on 2nd Ave. and continue on 2nd to Geary St. The original route is on Front Ave and Water Ave. Go right on Geary St then left at SE Salem Ave. Turn right at Waverly Drive then left on Highway 99E (Pacific Blvd). Ride 99E under I-5 then left on Century Drive. This road parallels I-5. After 1.25 miles veer left onto Old Salem Rd (again under I-5). The final 6 miles goes through Millersburg back to Jefferson. Ride average was slowed by NE head or crosswind and extra time trying to navigate Albany.
