Bob suggested going to Dad’s Luncheonette today. I was all for it as they announced their dessert was going to be Pineapple Upside Down Cake, which ended up being delicious. Bob thought it was his favorite dessert of theirs and I think I agree.
The day started off a bit chilly but warmed up considerably by the time I got to Edgewood.
I had an amazing tailwind because I made it to Woodside Store in 30 minutes! I was 20 min. early!
It was nice all the way out to Hwy 1 where it was cloudy. I was expecting a stiff headwind but surprisingly there wasn’t one until we got to downtown Half Moon Bay. It also got gloomier and colder.
The last few times I’ve been to Dad’s, Scott has been very boisterous and aggressive with customers. I think for some people, especially if you didn’t know him, that could be very off-putting. It almost feels like business is too good and he wants to weed out some the crowd. Glad he likes us at least. 😂
After lunch we had to put on jackets it was so chilly. For some reason it was a headwind. I think we might have gotten away without the layers if it had been.
There was a misunderstanding and we ended up going back along Lobitos the way we came. I said Lobitos but meant Lobitos Cut-off. Oh well, it wasn’t too bad. Normally there’s a headwind going up but I think we might have gotten a tailwind.
We only saw one other cyclist climbing Tunitas. It was so quiet and I had time to make a discovery(?) about redwoods. Those sister/fairy rings grow to merge into one giant redwood. That’s my theory anyway.
There were lots of trees with the soil underneath them that had washed away and I saw the roots of the sister ring and how it was all connected as one. And that’s how I made the connection.
Also turns out I got too much sun yesterday. First time in forever that I’ve gotten sunburned. On the way back, my eyes were watering and it was hard to wipe them because of the sunburn.
