Feeling some
Mental fatigue this week due to too many miles! —
Cold! 25degrees wore thermalsnunder tights, a la lightweight underwear top under my R1 hoody and a vest over my hydration pack. Drank about 40 oz of water? Felt just right. Vest kept water warm. Felt good - but achy around like 9miles. Tried running downhill a bit faster on second half- ran harder on second half due to wanting it to be done. Felt okay at end but probably ran harder than helpful. Notes: noticed that it takes a lot of mental energy to keep track of drink breaks (and heart rate and intervals) if I don’t set the timer —i decided to do 20/30 intervals instead of drink reminders at the end due to it helping the time pass a littler faster? 20/30 into seem about right. But think I should try the 20/30 bits programmed in to the garmin (zone 2-3 target) and then use the timer for drinks. Maybe experiencing mental fatigue toward the end of the ride - after all I have to look where every step is landing. RETROSPECT two days later: it was worth doing this time - but Two long runs in a week is too much! From here on out - I will do a short weekend run (experiment with pacing) let’s say - 5-6 miles every other weekend. Short run weekends can be mtb weekends too- soninwould do the short run on Saturday and the mtb on Sunday or Vice versa . Here’s an idea - alternate workouts longer midweek workouts on short weekend run weeks and shorter midweek runs during long run weekends (or Vice. Versa to keep fatigue away.
