Race takeaways: temps on 50’s? - no jacket required ditch it at the start i was immediately too hot even with lightweight breathable jacket - it was a pain to tie around my waist. #2: my HR was WAAAY HIGHER than anticipated and there is no way I could have raced at my training heart rate. I used pace and perceived exertion instead as a guide. I felt relaxed and happy the first 9 miles. Abou that time I became pretty focused on my pace and keeping pace and finding my appropriate level of exertion. I experienced some
Leg burn for the first time up Alder - when that happened I just walked and focused on relaxing and the. Started again at a pace that didn’t burn. Pushed on the last 2. #3 I drank waay more than usual - probably a half gallon - used a handheld and while it was slightly less comfortable - I didn’t really mind and was very happy to be able to refill super quick at aid stations. Two handhelds might be good for a long ed/more strenuous run. Maybe one lighter then easy to switch hands? #4 I used my Tailwind - added that to my water and pretty sure it was helpful - ratio 1GRAM carb per 1 gram water! #5. Gummy dose - peach did 1/3 rd before start then 1/6th one hour in. I was happy and optimistic the whole way -
Never bored never angry. #5. Think I should try one long run without a gummy see if I can have the same experience or if it is just full and boring to me? #6 I felt my training was perfect #7. I still got achy back of the knee but no debilitating pain. 7. #7 yea - let the pack go first and get in behind and go at a relaxing pace. #8 glad I used the pace pro #9 experiment with types of gummy #10 glad I already knew the course #8 lastly I tried tostand and pee - when no one was in sight - this was not successful - I
Peed myself - but did not worry about it as condition were wet and muddy - that said - having clear water to wash oneself Off with was useful
