Two families joined up for an amazing day of hiking. The participants, (Abbi, Jon, Jonny, Hailey, Michael, Catherine, Olivia, Christina, Marsha and Brent), enjoyed time together while moving along the well maintained Painted Rocks_Knothead trail. The day/hike included memory making time spent in the Little Spokane River Natural Area, sparse woodlands, low mountain vistas, breathing fresh air, dabbling in a bit of exercise and wonderful conversation! The area in and around Spokane provides an abundance of outdoor opportunity for enthusiasts, quite a blessing indeed! If that weren't enough, spending time with family and/or friends puts times like these "over the top"! Very much looking forward to our next adventure!
NOTES:
1) The elevation gain you'll find here is corrected to the WGS-84/EGM96 reference geoid as opposed to the WGS-84 reference ellipsoid, (the data set utilized by handheld GPS devices), therefore the difference in what I had mentioned our total elevation gain was at the conclusion of our hike given on my Garmin GPS. It really makes no difference, we climbed the same amount. All it pertains to is whether the elevation gain was based on actual sea level, (geoid), at any particular point or a reference sea level, (ellipsoid), at any given point.
2) The gap between our start and stop points was due to my forgetting to start the trip record. The stop point is the parking lot.
