Start by the Cricket Ground at Darley Bridge or Whitworth Park and pick up the trail to Rowsley at Churchtown. At Rowsley cross the A6 by the Peacock Hotel and ride up the road to join the bridleway (steep in parts) which leads to the beginning of the Monsal Trail. Ride to the end of the Monsal Trail and return the same way, Get a coffee at the cycle hire place at the far end of the Monsal Trail (open Spring - Autumn). There are 3 other cafes on the trail. Best to have a bell as this trail can be busy at times - not a trail if you want to be in a hurry. Have a light for the tunnels. Really great in Winter when there is snow, or, if very cold, then icicles hang from the walls of the tunnels etc. Great views.
