The weather today was great. Although the winds were from the north, it was mostly brisk. I started out with modest tempo until I hit the Banducci wall. From that point I was able to lift the pace a bit. I did good time to the summit, I think around 33-34 minutes. The downhill was a treat, with the wind on my back and with out it being turbulent. Making it for a good, safe descent. I did good time to SS, with a bit of a dig over the summit. The way out of SS was faster than I anticipated. I exited SS in under an hour. That put me about 5-7 minutes faster than normal. But mostly due to the wind condtions. Being that I had a headwind on the way back, I did steady but good tempo. I got to boss hogs under 1:20 hrs. Up to this point I had no serious ailments other than the usual fatigue and somewhat extra from having gone into a headwind. The last climb was done with mostly good tempo, getting out of the saddle to keep my cadence high. My right calf cramped a bit, maybe for a minute or so. I soft pedaled until it went away and commenced with the higher tempo that I was doing previous to the ailment. The wind continued to be modest for the remainder of the ride, so I capitalized on it by doing high tempo. My concentration was ok, my bodily responses were better. My concentration is always like this on a contrary wind condition. It just kinda eats at your sole, but is doable. Leg balance was not too bad. I had to alternate to keep them nice and centered. Today's gear worked pretty much the same way as the previous ride. Mostly quiet, but some clicking here and there. Other notes, there were quite a few cows upon entering the SS circuit.
