A day of "moments" leading a second group. Puncture by group member Sarah C before coffee break. Soon recovered at Eppleby shop and cafe. A real gem with great scones. No further issues on way to excellent lunch at Cross Lanes farm shop cafe. Different menber, Helen T, got thorn puncture at Greta Bridge which proved difficult to fix, requiring a third inner tube to fix finally. Delay of over an hour. Road closure proved difficult to negotiate as workman was adamant that we were not to ride through. Eventually relented and turned blind eye. Feared that road gang would turn us back but fears unfounded. Completed climbs and enjoyed the 3 miles downhill with tailwind back to Richmond, arriving c 1 hour after Doug's group. Despite the days moments, the sun and the views made it all worthwhile with smiling cyclists saying their cheery farewells.
