Training objective: 10-15 min warm-up followed by 60 minutes with a cadence between 65-75 rpm and heart rate around 150 bpm with the next 60 minutes as hard as possible and the same cadence.
Rode out to the RijnKanaal with the local bike shop crew, then at the 20-minute mark, I peeled off to do my own training on a long stretch of open track. Very strong wind against (and sideways), then a thunderstorm at the turn-around point and more strong wind against (and sideways) on the way back. Used the lap/split function - so 1st lap/split was the warm-up, 2nd lap/split was the 1st 60 minutes and the 3rd lap/split was the final 60 minutes.
There was no way to get into the smallest gear at the rear other than to do a bunny-hop at 41 km/hr - probably not what you had in mind, Morne! So lap/split 4 is an easy cool-down back to the bike shop for a quick tune-up (I kept the Garmin running, which is why there's no activity for quite a while).

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
