Better start today. Quicker into the pedal. Got to the mud bog first and then got on the gas for the next few straights. Andrew Coe and Josh Stough weren't letting me out of sight today though. I kept hitting them though. Then Andrew started attacking too. It was like this for the first couple laps. We were gapping Josh so we kept at it. I was feeling good and was still thinking of the training benefit. Finally I followed Andrew into a fast right hander toward the end of a lap (just past the pit off the gravel) and hit a bump at a funky angle and burped my front tire a bit. I got back up to him but it folded a bit on the next bumpy turn. I rode another lap milking it along before the sharp left after the mud bog where it folded and burped again. I probably should have swapped bikes the lap before, but I definitely did here as I was getting gapped. It was a pretty quick swap despite no pit crew (just dropped the first bike. sorry!). I came out a bit behind Josh. The brakes on this bike had a bit more travel before they bit and the hoods were a in a slightly different position so it took me a few turns to get comfortable. Definitely need to dial these differences in. By this point Josh was pulling away a bit. I was able to close a bit on the next couple straights and watched as Josh went right by Andrew on the backside of the ball field before the mud bog. After that I could just see Andrew at the end of the straight aways for another lap or so and then he was gone. In hindsight, if I wanted to win I needed to ride smarter and not go so deep to start. That and lay off Andrews wheel a bit in the techy stuff so I could ride them cleaner and not burp my tire. Oh well, another good result and training effort.
