Swim - Super nervous as I haven't swam much the past year. Got a few swims in the last week or so. Once I got in the water I did my best to focus on keeping moving forward (no stopping), sighting for bouys and not freaking out due to the distance, people around me or any other reason.
I did really well! Felt very confident and comfortable in the water, sighting was on point and although there were lots of people around me (Me touching them and vise-versa), I didn't freak out one bit. Was tired but pushed through it for a decent time. Forgot to take a gu before I started...
T1 - took my time and made sure I had everything, goal was sub 5 mins (even with a big hill) and I got it.
Bike - felt really strong on the first half of the course (bc it was down hill) and tempered my efforts because I knew there was a huge hill (cat3) and I want to be sure to have something left for the run. The hill was brutal.... Lots of people walking their bikes up it. I persevered and did NOT get off my bike. After the huge climb I was pretty gassed - So I took the rest of the course easy hoping to save energy. Drank 1 bottle with 2 scoops of TW, and 1 bottle with Gatorade - ate 1 uncrustable.
T2 - took my time and made sure I had what I needed. Zero issues. Goal was sub 5 mins and i did it.
Run - ran in Endorphin Pro 2 shoes for the second time. They probably were not the right choice as they have zero foot/ankle support. The course was kinda weird. Majority of it was on gravel or soft mulch and it was kinda hilly. I felt pretty good till like 20-25mins into the run. Then I start taking 30 second walk breaks. I had planned on no walking, but the course was hard and I couldn't mentally push through. My HR was really high 155+ and I was not moving fast, that kinda freaked me out. Finished strong. Took a GU in transition and had water at almost all stops.
Overall - I'm happy with my efforts. I didn't train much for this race and it was hard. Impressed with my swim & bike hill!
