110 miles of adventure starting and ending at Base Camp Pizza in Terrebonne, OR . About 50 miles dirt roads gravel/ dirt roads, 45 miles paved road, 15 miles of single track , spectacular views of the Cascades, and 1/4 of it along rivers and lakes. The gravel portion is mostly downhill except the first part from Burma Road to west side of Grey Butte. ** Be prepared for GOAT HEADS you will encounter on much of this route. If not, you will not be a happy monkey. Tubeless is best. Really good idea to call 541-475-4459 (Jefferson County Public Works about condition of HAY CREEK ROAD. If it is muddy- you're not going to have fun. Don't bother ranchers unless emergency. If you need to bail at mile 38.9 you can go up and over into Madras. This the ONLY place(on eastern portion) where there is some traffic if you needed to hitch a ride out.. This is one where you'll want your good camera. Yes, there is a lot of elevation to climb back up, but holy crap, there's like 30 miles of gravel downhill!! I made this route as a perfect route for beginners who have already done an over nighter and are ready for the next step, but don't need to conquer an EPIC 360 mile journey. It makes the most sense to go counter clockwise as there is no camping from mile 20 to mile 62. I camped at mile 16.5 (Cyrus Horse camp then next night at Trout Creek campground) RESPECT PRIVATE PROPERTY. LEAVE NO TRACE. Give horses right of way. Hutch's Bikes in Redmond is the closest legit bike shop with sealant, energy bars and great mechanics. Any questions? email me at mathewsturtevant@gmail.com
