It’s July so high alpine riding is on the menu. The Professor threw out Kelly Lake and I caught it, np. We met up at Meadow Creek to camp for the night. It rained all the way up the Canyon so I was leary it would be dry the nextt day. And remember, it’s cold up high at night. The next morning the clouds burned off and out came the sun. We drove over to the Kelly Lake trailhead. This TH is located up past Michigan reservoir, near where the Ruby Jewel yurt used to be (r.i.p. Never Summer Nordic). The trail was dry as we started the climb. On the ascent we saw, what I’d guess to be, the last runners on the Gnar Runners, Never Summer 100k. She’d been on the trail for a while, and was super strung out but at the point we saw her, she was gonna make it. Silas won the race, he’d finished the day before. Save for a little wind, it was a picture perfect day full of beautiful Meadows, streams, and of course, a high alpine lake. Aaron got some great pics too.
