The story of an everyday ride.....
Being sunny and warm on Thursday I decided to go for a local spin in the afternoon. I thought that would have given the roads a chance to dry out..... mistake! I descended the steep hill on Guildford Ln only to find the road very deeply flooded by the corner under St Martha’s Church. I had to climb back up the hill using muscles that had not had a chance to warm up!
I then proceeded onwards to Lordshill Common but then found the road leading up to Farley Green completely closed by excavators, piles of mud and lorries. Undeterred, I followed the diversion until reaching Farley Heath where I came across a riderless horse bolting in the opposite direction. On seeing me, and a white van that had stopped behind me, the horse slowed, stopped and started to canter back
The owners jumped out of an approaching vehicle and caught the wayward animal.
Onwards towards home past more floods and another closed road (plus the odd homicidal motorist....or are they just ignorant?). That was enough for one day.
