I wanted to do an easy ride but that didn't happen. It was windy and I rode into the wind almost the entire ride minus a few section. The wind when I started was a East Northeast wind and I started out into it. I figure well I would be with a tailwind on my last 10 miles. When I finally made my turn back home the wind was at my side, I thought not too bad soon it will be at my back. The further I went the more it was in my face. To make a matters worse, I forgot my water bottles so I could not take a drink and I needed it bad. The wind was a west Northwest with 8 miles to go. I was hurting big time, legs burning back killing me and my forearms not a happy camper. I couldn't wait to finish the ride to stop all this pain! I was so happy to put this ride behind me. The bad part this was really a slow ride and to hurt this much... 11 more days to go until the new year and a 2 months plus with zero missed days in riding. I think going 30 days with no missed days of training is a first but 60 plus day for me is making my own statement to myself. I wanted my 60th year to be a banner year of physical achievement in cycling. This past year wasn't a banner year for me with two back to back accidents that took me out for over two months and slow start for the first two months I wasn't able to achieve my yearly goals but my race season wasn't too bad. Moved up to Cat 4 and raced with a much stronger field of racers it was successful but not to what I was looking for. My goals for 2014 are much higher and if everything continues as they are progressing now I may be able to make this my year! I would love to make this year my fastest, strongest and best year yet. A win or two would go a long way too :)
By the way the new mapping software worked well and the Garmin is finally working like it used to so far but I will know more after a week.
