A weird day today. It was overcast until the afternoon. There was some sun around Calaveras but it didn't really become sunny until after we got to Niles Canyon.
After Calaveras, the sky was kind of dark and it looked like it might rain. Fortunately it didn't, not on the ride anyway. Just as I was getting home, there was a light mist falling, enough that I needed to have the wipers on. It was also quite windy with headwind for most of the ride. We got a bit of a tailwind going up Palomares surprisingly but really it wasn't until after Niles Canyon that we got a consistent tailwind.
The ride was also weird because I was feeling tired. I didn't get enough rest after yesterday and getting up early two days in a row is hard. Going up the Calaveras Wall, I was feeling exhausted. Sometimes the thing to do is push harder to wakeup/jump start the body. It didn't really help. I didn't really feel like pushing most of the ride. Luckily I was actually able to push if I needed to.
Also weird, it was pretty dead at lunch. Normally there are softball games at the park nearby and today there were only two games going on out of the four baseball fields.
When usually stop there for water after leaving lunch and I got to see some, can't keep my eyes off, car wreck, bad middle-aged adult softball. The team in the outfield was terrible but they were amazing at bat and vice versa for their opponents.
On the way back, Bob had suggested a couple bakeries to try. We passed the first one and stopped at Forest & Flour. It's in an old Starbucks location we've been to before. It's gluten and dairy free.
I tried the Chocolate Cake w/Orange Frosting and a Lavender Lemonade. The cake was moist but maybe too moist. I didn't taste any orange flavor in the frosting. Worse was the lemonade. It was a TEN DOLLAR water!!! Such a rip. There might have been a hint of lemon and maybe a hint of lavender but it was essentially a glass of water.
I don't think I can recommend the place.
Oh and Bob got some very shiny new shoes. They look like Dorothy's ruby slippers only they're blue with iridescent purple effect.
