My first 200 miler

This is a route I plotted on a "40 miles Around London" map in 1991, aged 16 and tried to follow. There were no GPSs in those days, I had to try and follow the map which meant I had to keep stopping to try and stay on track. I did ride up Leith Hill and Box Hill but I remember going on the A25 after spending so long looking at my maps. I needed to catch the ferry at Gravesend before the service stopped. I doubt that it's much fun to ride now with all the extra traffic and new junctions. It was my first 200 mile ride as I lived in Wheathampstead, about 5 miles north of where the route starts and ends.

    Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices

  • TCX Course

    Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
