There were some animals in the camp last night.
They had footsteps, so not kangaroos.
I could hear them really close, but every time I sat up and shone my light; nothing.
But when I got up for a pee and shone it all around the camp I could see nothing. Which was really odd as I didn't hear them move away.
There was no "gunk gunk" noise, so I don't think it was Emu either.
So the ear plugs went in, & I got the best sleep I could. Which wasn't great.
I set off just before 8am I think. Wanting to get the day over with.
As it turned out, it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the day before.
The sun even came out in the afternoon. Not that it warmed up at all.
As usual, the last few kms seemed to take ages.
I managed to get signal around lunch time, so I booked a motel for tomorrow in Denmark.
I'm starting to get excited. Feeling I'm near the end.
And looking forward to seeing the family again.
I'm very happy they are going to be there to meet me.
The last hut eventually arrived.
A nice spot, in a clearing of tall trees.
There at lots and lots of noisy birds.
I've been having problems with my front derailleur too.
After all the rain & mud I think it's a bit gunked up.
I'm having to get off the bike & physicaly push the chain over while rolling it forward.
Not ideal when you get to the bottom of a climb.
I've flushed it out at the camp, so we'll see if that improves things.
A little before it got dark another two riders turned up.
They weren't riding together, but met up on the trail.
(I can't remember the guy's name) he was smashing it out. 104km today, and will finish tomorrow with 130km
The girl Femke, a doctor from NL was also no stranger to distance. Telling me she'd ridden a 500km ride in 26hours back in Europe.
She'd been having chain problems. Having snapped.
The guy was staying with her in case she broke it again.
I was glad they turned up. I really don't like sleeping in the huts on my own.
