It was quite the surprise that we had a chance to ride today. Joey, Pat, Gina, and I had considered making the Peace Rally in Kingston at 3pm today. Unfortunately, Joey wasn’t feeling too well this morning and decided he wasn't up for it. We decided to cancel and make other plans. That allowed Gina and me to get a ride in. Additionally surprising was the weather which was supposed to have been unsettled, with showers likely. Instead, the day dawned sunny, with the northern fringe of Hurricane Helene’s clouds lying ominously to the south. After considering riding to Plattekill, Gina instead wanted to do Vega Valley again. This time, unlike the last ride there, we chose to pace ourselves. In addition to the modestly challenging hills, the chaotic winds seemed perpetually against us, considerably blunting our progress, and adding a deep chill to the sixty-five degree temps. As usual, though, it was great ride. Having Gina here makes all the difference in the world!
