Two day ride down from Bellingham, WA to Seattle, WA. The first day took me down Chuckanut Rd to Edison Station and over to the Anacortes via HWY 20 then South at Sharpes Corner. Rural riding down across Deception Pass (very busy road). From Deception Pass a little side road which leads back int HWY 20 and the East end of the Whidbey NAS ( cool site to see the jets coming in low as you ride down the Monkey Hill road to 20). From here its HWY shoulder riding to Oak Harbor and then a little winding to get over to Libby Rd and the entrance to Fort Ebey SP.
Note: there is a Hiker/Biker site at Fort Ebey but it is primitive and in the bushes and trees. One water spigot and the a pit toilet 300 or so feet up the hill on a good trail. Showers are still further up the hill at the main camp ground so bring walking shoes to hike up the the showers: tokens must be used, get them at the camp host. $1 will buy you two and that is more than enough to take a long hot shower. NO OTHER SERVICES NEARBY so stock up in Oak Harbor before heading down to Fort Ebey.
The second day is a easy ride into Coupeville. Coffee shops are to the right and left of the main intersection. I went left over the walk way to a little shop about 1/2 mile down toward old town but there is a nice business to right much closer.
From Coupeville ride directly south on Main street which becomes South Engle Rd. A right on Fort Casey Rd and more wonderful rural riding to Wanamaker Rd and back to HWY 20.
HWY riding on HWY 525 to Mutiny Bay and a several good lunching spots and a good market outside of town heading toward Clinton.
Once on the Ferry (free for cyclists this direction) you will come into Mulkilteo and very busy urban riding till you can get to the Inter Urban Bike Path. I would suggest finding one very soon to avoid riding all the traffic.
