On a blustery morning eight loiterers set out west from Uxbridge to Denham Roundabout. Gaining access to Southlands Road and Hollybush Lane we headed up to Tatling End, along the Oxford Road to Gerrards Cross and elevenses at Jung’s Patisserie.
Refreshed we Jane and Clive left us to make their way home while Alec, Chris, Graham, Jim H, Lawrie, and I back round the common, across the A40 to a path to Windsor Road and on to Hedgerley Lane. We followed the ups and downs of Hedgerley Lane on past Hedgerley to our lunch destination, The Hope and Champion PH at the Beaconsfield Motorway Service Area.
The Hope and Champion is a Wetherspoon Pub, apparently the first pub on a motorway service area. The staff are very helpful and allowed us to take our bikes through the pub to a large seating area at the back overlooking a small lake. We were soon joined Dave T, Jamie, and Iain from the long ride group.
After an enjoyable lunch we made our way on to the A355 and followed it to the Yew Tree where we turned on to Parish Lane which we followed past One Pin Lane before turning into Gipsy Lane and on to Templewood Lane. At Duffield Lane Chris left us to go straight home and us five headed towards Stoke Poges and Hollybush Hill en route to Rowley Lane and tea at BlackPark.
After tea we returned to Uxbridge via Pinewood and Chandler’s Hill with the group dispersing as we approached Uxbridge.
