Seven. Sunny and warm, there was wind, seemed like mostly in our face for much of the ride. An interesting ride with an unique adventure in the middle and tons of climbing - some might say it was an epic ride!
Started from the Little Sugar MTB trail head, lots of climbing, paved and gravel roads until we jumped off on a fire road. Rough pedaling for a while, then we picked the wrong tine on a fork and ended up doing a carry all with the bikes through the woods and up several very rocky stream beds. This culminated in a climb out of a ravine to finally get back to a real road. So the average speed of the ride does not reflect the effort and difficulty we endured...
I broke a wire to the rear shifter on the Seven, probably when I handed the bike to Dave through a downed tree. Luckily we found a great bike shop open on Sunday afternoon and they had it fixed in a few hours (Phat Tire Bikes in Bentonville). So the last 20 miles or so was with two gears courtesy of the front shifter still working.
When you have a rough ride, it's always good to do it with a friend. This was a ride that neither of us will soon forget.
