Halloween Ride and celebration of my Ultra Randonneur Award! Decided to go AFTER work today at 3:30pm but didn't get started until 4pm. Of course the weather has turned cool now. So carried a vest and light orange jacket. Wasn't sure how the traffic would be but it was not as bad as I thought. The sun was so far south that I was not riding into the sun very much, which is something I always think about at these twilight rides and drivers being able to see me. Rode the usual forward direction. Got out to the SVP Shell gas station. When I came out of the store a construction or night worker of some kind, since he had a vest on, remarked on how far away he could see me with the ankle bands! That was good to know. I should really get that reflective tape that Dan Driscoll mentioned. On the ride back to town from the SVP Shell, it was nice to see the city lights. A bit cool. Then when got back to Bell Rd and snaking through the neighborhoods, I did see some bands of trick or treat folks and people sitting in front of their houses with a table, handing out candy. Arrived home, got some food and a shower, and sat down on the couch to listen to Orson Welles War of the Worlds. Great day to cycle. Great day for reaching goals!
