I left pretty early so I could clear the i-75 crossing on GA 20 which is a strange design for getting more cars through faster. I arrived at this around 5:45 and it was a non issue. Maybe even better than a normal crossing even.
The other Henry bits after this were pretty chill as nothing much was going on that early. Did a bunch more subdivisions in Butts and took a relatively early store stop around mile 71 at a dollar general. This store was destroyed and nothing much was on the shelves. I made some substitutions and filled everything up even though I would stop again in around 40 miles.
Next up was the dead end roads of the Jackson lake area. There were lots of gravel ones where the end is a bit dubious. But I didn't have any trouble completing all of them. Pretty hilly but nothing ridiculous. Heading east is considerably less hilly than north or west of here.
I ended up doing a couple more subdivisions off GA 36 than intended. So the ride was trending longer. I stopped again around mile 114 and got an ice cream sandwich in addition to the normal stuff. I sat down and ate things which was really the only time in the ride where I rested at all.
I crossed all three rivers individually: the South, Yellow and Alcovy. And then I crossed back over the Ocmulgee on GA 16. The traffic wasn't much of an issue.
Did a bunch more lake subdivisions in Butts county and made my way back west to Jackson. I was stopped briefly by a train and was really looking forward to a cold drink, snacks and sitting on the little bench outside the dollar general market. Unfortunately an employee was using it for his break when I got out so I just packed up and left. Kinda intended to stop somewhere and sit down but I never did.
I made it to Griffin and took a meandering route through the Southside of town which worked out great. But when I got to the 41 crossing at Odell road the whole intersection was blocked probably because of a bad crash. So I diverted to Kalamazoo and then decided on a whim to just come home on Ellis road rather than go back down south to do the gravel way northwest. I had a strong tailwind from the east and this went very fast despite my tired and aching legs.
The sun set just after I rolled through Brooks and got back to Bankstown via Price road. The Padgett road traffic was non-existent strangely maybe because I was early? Whatever, I'll take it. Rolled down the paths and didn't really see many carts either which was very nice.
The weather today was excellent if a bit too warm again. Started out in the mid sixties and got to the upper seventies at one point. It was mostly cloudy till the middle of the day and the sun poked out for 2-3 hours and then it clouded up again. Strong east wind from about 10am on.
I ate and drank pretty good this ride and really managed to keep my stopped time to a minimum. Much better than average. I had a little bit of soreness in my left knee and for some reason the side of my left ankle was sore like I had twisted it. Strange. It didn't hurt to pedal and it's fine to walk on. Weird. Good ride! Pretty fast one too.
