I wast sure how I was going to fare today, got up feeling ok but very tired. After normal bathroom stop everything was going good. getting dressed and something happened to the bathroom emergency, there I stayed for 20 minutes. Now I was running late so I could not ride up to the meet. It was a blessing in disguise! Get to the ride and I had to head straight to the bathroom. After that all was good with the stomach. The ride started out slow which was great for me gave me plenty of time to warm up. Chuck started pushing the pace I let them go for a while and Jamie asked if I wanted to bridge the gap. I balked at first then decided ok, lets catch up. We bridge the gap in quick time and the pace was now a real A pace. the wind was coming from everywhere and had some strong gusts. I didn't know the route that we were riding, well no one in our small group knew the route either. One of the guys said we were supposed to go by Arney's Mount. I asked from which direction were they supposed to go over it no one knew. So I took them up the back side which I felt was a nice change of pace and actually a better attack to the hill and climb. the wind was coming from the front side and in and starting out in a wide open field. The b nice thing once we hit the main part of the hill the trees blocked the wind as well as the hill itself. It was a nice climb and I felt stronger than I thought I would. From there we hurried to the rest stop about 2 miles away. I thought I was leading a good pace to the rest stop but Jamie thought otherwise as he blitzed by me then followed by Chuck I now was forced to bump it up to catch up. The last 12 miles to the rest stop was blistering we were hitting speeds over 30 mph some of which was with a tale wind. We were last to get to the rest stop because of the extra 4.5 miles we did. After the rest stop it was all into the wind. It was so strong at times we were down to under 15 mph and dropping riders. With about 10 miles to go my hamstrings started to cramp and every mile after that more of my legs started to cramp until I could hardly pedal. I had to keep the cadence over 95 but the resistance down. I started to get drop but I was able to catch up because of the stops and traffic lights. It was really tough making it in, I realized I didn't drink that much in the first 1/2 of the ride as I started to increase the fluid intake the damage was already done. I should know better too. I am so glad I didn't ride up because I would have never been able to ride back. All in all the ride was a nice one and enjoyed by all.
