Start at New Brighton Middle School in Capitola The beginning of this ride can be confusing if you don't know the roads (ridewithgps navigation helped a bunch). Once you get out of town you will be on nice country roads with little to no shoulder but not too much traffic on a Saturday morning. Mile 11.5 you can fuel up at Corralitos Market, last chance to top off the water bottles Eureka Canyon has terrible road surface as you would expect, but is a nice long climb that isn't too steep with lots of shade from the redwoods. It had more traffic than I would have expected. At mile 28 take a short detour to Summit Store if you need water or food. It is a nice long descent down Soquel San Jose Road, good road surface with some patching, some shoulders here and there but you pretty much need to own the road for most of the descent.
