Seven. Mostly sunny, clouding up near the end, temps were nice @ 46 into the low 50's, mild variable winds @ 4-5 mph - all in all a gorgeous day with lots of other cyclists out and about. Great ride with Dave Struck, who I don't get to ride with often enough. We hit a mix of paved and gravel trails, some paved roads and some gravel roads. We even road some off route single track through the Left Hand Trailhead over to the Boulder Valley Ranch. Finished up riding through the Boulder Reservoir trails to the Lobo trail then mostly gravel and trails back to the house through Niwot. This turned out to be my last ride of 2024, as my wife and I are heading back to Geneva with a 2 day drive leaving tomorrow and getting home on New Years Eve. Good year of riding with lots of rides and a ton of ride time, here's the full 2024 stats -- Total Miles: 6,127.4 (7,033 in 2023) Total # Rides: 250 (254 in 2023) Total Ride Time; 548:08 (560:15 in 2023) Feet of Elevation Climbed: 242,252 (260:568 in 2023) Avg Number of Days ridden per Week: 4.81 (4.88 in 2023) Avg Feet Elevation per Ride: 969 (1,026 in 2023) Avg # Miles per Ride: 24.5 (27.7 in 2023) This was a 906 mile drop in total mileage but I was close in most of the other stats. I had no indoor rides in 2024, a bit more days than in 2023. A big reason for the drop in mileage was a lot more Mountain Bike and Fat Bike rides in 2024 compared to 2023. My average speed also dropped quite a bit for the same reason. I need to do some longer road rides in 2025 plus get into a more regular schedule of interval sessions and hill repeats. I am going to continue trying only riding outdoors in 2025 but I'll see how it goes over the next few months. I have a new Fat Bike (bought in February, 2024) with semi-studded knobbies, so I have a better chance as long as its cold enough and snow won't be a problem. I also have new 45 North Wolvhammer boots that are supposed to keep the feet warm down to below -0F without having to use toe warmers or multiple sock layers.
