First ride in Patagonia. Pretty cool morning and waited until it warmed up a bit before heading out, but rode from the Air BnB. There was a longer version of this ride. 50mi with an additional 1000ft of climbing. Neither of us were up for it though. Would have gotten pretty close to the border though. Did see lots of border patrol trucks driving around. Lots of mining trucks too, but overall not a big deal for the ride. Once we past the mine the vehicle traffic chilled out.
Really cool ride. Not what I pictured. Not much in the way of cactus. Lots of big trees and shade. Was pretty windy but didn't notice it except for the beginning of the ride and the top of the loop for a bit. Amazing views.
Lots of water crossings, 12 I believe. Average of about 10in deep maybe 8ft wide at most. Found out later that it was the new mine being built that is causing the heavy runoff. The river is usually dry this time of year. Made for some pretty wet feet on a cool ride.
Happy to get the shoes and socks off after this one.
Saddle stayed put for the whole ride. Think I got it this time. Tightened the new collar down with a Torx wrench pretty close to 8nm. Bike is a mess though from all those water crossings. Will need to hose it down before tomorrow's ride.
We stopped in town to grab a cookie from the breakfast place we ate at, but they closed at 3pm. Ended up a block down at the local market and got a cookie and soda to refill those depleted carbs. After finishing we went to ride back to the Air BnB, but my front tire was flat. Really not sure what happened. Was fine all the way down. We did stop to let some air out of our tires before the decent to town, so not sure if I just didn't tighten the stem all the way? Was weird that it was okay until we stopped. Blew a CO2 to get it ridable again. Will see if it's flat in the morning.
