Leifing Out

No, it's not Spring yet in Portland, but I did get to take the Ascent out to someplace where it could show its true nature. It's made for gravel and trails. The surprise was how much fun it was on the pavement getting to and from Forest Park.

I've told several people that it's the steelie's version of the carbon Salsa Cutthroat. And that even goes for weight. A similarly equipped Cutthroat weighs in at 24.5 pounds. The Ascent, 25. However, I cheated. The Ascent has carbon wheels.

Other things new to me: 27.5 wheels, 165mm crank arms, dropbars with rise (Ritchey Corralitos), and the 1x drivetrain (34t crank, 10-50T cassette). All are turning out to be the right decisions.

    Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
