Waking up early two days in a row wrecks me. I just wanted to take a nap all ride. Can’t do Friday morning rides before a Saturday ride. 😩 Ironically my Garmin said my performance condition was “+4 Good” at the start of the ride even though I felt so sleepy and tired. Towards the top of Old Santa Cruz I started to wake up and feel better. That last until about Hames Rd. From Corralitos back, I was sleepy and not feeling like putting any effort in again. After getting water from Corralitos, an old guy on an old bike started riding with us. Would not stop talking. He mentioned he was riding to a place he was working on. I missed the part where it was 7 miles past the Summit Store. I assumed he would be parting ways with us fairly soon. Bob took the bullet and rode with him, listening to his stories. He dropped back behind the group a little. I thought about going faster but I got the feeling he was slowing down to talk to us. And since I was already feeling tired, the thought of going faster was not at all appealing (but neither was listening to him). Eventually he rode off the front but it took a while for him to disappear. We stopped at the Summit Store because I felt like cake. It sort of helped? For some reason along Summit, I felt cold even though it was still really nice in the sun. The wind chill was starting to do its thing I guess. I had a fun descent down Old Santa Cruz until I caught up to a motorcycle who was going so slow through the corners.
