Having taken an early morning train up from Albufeira to Lusbon Oriente, this was a well timed ride along the Tejo and onto the Atkantic Coast. Well timed because it missed prolonged rain in the morning and massive downpours in the evening - I did have to contend with a gusting 30 -50 mph headwind all the way but beggars cant be choosers and I was dry ! From Oriente I followed a decent but flooded cycle path into the city and paused at all the highlights to take pics, before emeginging underneath the 25th April Bridge, which is a Golden Gate replica. Then on to the MAAT museum ( which us unfortunately closed on a Tuesday when I may have visited). Next the Discoverers Monument and the Belem Tower. From Belem the estyary opened up and the Costa de Caprica on the other side of the Tejo receded, giving me tge full force of the strong South Westerlies battering in of the Atlantic. A fairly tricky coastal route saw me picking my way through Caxias, Paco de Arcos, begore reaching Oeiras where I was forced in off the coast onto a busy N6 to get through Estoril into Cascais.
